Grendels are easiest to bribe within the cavern area inside Mt. Gagazet, but you can also find them roaming around the Zanarkand Ruins as well. Or if you’re a little short on gil, you can also get Mega-Potions as rare steals from YKT-63 and Mech Scouters. The YKT-63 machina are found in the Zanarkand Ruins Dome, while the Mech Scouters can be found in the Calm Lands & near the base of Mt. Gagazet.
What Are Mega-Potions & What Do They Do?
Mega-Potions (the hyphen is required to spell it correctly) are a restorative item that recovers 2000 HP to the whole party. They are particularly useful at most stages of the game, but especially early on when your healing options are pretty limited. But they still have some value in the late game too! And Rikku’s Mix overdrive can make incredible use of Mega-Potions. Here are just a few examples: Megalixir (Mega-Potion + Mega-Potion): Full restores the party’s HP and MP. Ultra-Potion (Al Bhed Potion + Mega-Potion): Full restores the party’s HP. Final Phoenix (Mega Phoenix + Mega-Potion): Revives all KO’d party members to full HP.
Are Mega-Potions Worth Farming?
Yes, and I could’ve answered that before we even finished the question. Rikku’s Mixes alone are super powerful and useful throughout the entire game. Mega-Potions in-battle are particularly good by themselves too. They’re actually one of the most useful healing items out there, and relatively easy to get! The only downside is that you have to wait until Mt. Gagazet or Zanarkand before you can farm them – and both of those locations are more in the mid-to-late-game. That said, if you have patience, definitely try farming them as soon as you can. Keeping at least x50 Mega-Potions on you at all times is just general good advice and common sense as you get deeper into the game.
